Tucumcari loses to Eunice
Roundup: Tucumcari suffered its second loss of the season, 48-27, to Eunice on Friday night. Logan got back on the winning track with a win against Menaul, 36-0. House lost to Hondo Valley, 66-34. San Jon beat New Mexico School for the Deaf, 73-39.
Stars: Tucumcari quarterback Alex Hutchins threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the Rattlers’ loss. ... Logan receiver Robert Bowling caught a touchdown pass and Tanner Sorrels had a kickoff return for a touchdown in the win.
Just sayin’: “The second quarter has been our nemesis lately, but we turned it around this week,” Rattlers coach Daniel Hutchins said.
• “We made some adjustments in the second half and the kids really responded well,” Logan coach Billy Burns.
• “We have to start picking up our blitzes better,” Tucumcari Quarterback Alex Hutchins said.
Must improve: Tucumcari turned the ball over four times, which led to 14 points for Eunice in Friday’s loss. “We made too many little mistakes,” Coach Hutchins said.
As it stands: Logan is 5-1, Tucumcari and House are 4-2, San Jon is 2-3
What’s next: Tucumcari plays Dexter at 7 p.m. Friday at Rattler Stadium. “We will not take them lightly,” Coach Hutchins said.
Logan is on the road against Valley Christian Academy at 7 p.m. Friday. “It should be a really good football game,” Burns said.
House plays at Elida at 4 p.m. on Friday.
San Jon has a home game against Roy at 4 p.m. Saturday.
