ALBUQUERQUE — The two-time defending Class 5A state team champion Carlsbad Cavegirls beat Clovis High 9-0 on Friday in a quarterfinal match at Jerry Cline Complex.
The ninth-seeded Lady Cats, who beat Eldorado 6-3 in Thursday’s opening round, won at least five games in seven of the nine matchups, but were able to take only one to a third set — sophomore Audie Rodela lost to Carlsbad junior Amanda Bendixsen 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 6 singles.
