Six Ram football players recognized
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Senior Jacob Brady makes first team OL
The Class 3A New Mexico High School Coaches Association all-state football teams were announced Thursday and the Portales Rams placed six players on the list.
Portales senior Jacob Brady made the first team all-state at offensive lineman and senior Ricky Lovato made second team all-state at running back. Lovato was also named honorable mention at linebacker.
Other honorable mention Rams include junior Michael Trujillo at wide receiver and defensive back, senior quarterback Chris Mosier, junior Ethan Grubbs at defensive lineman and Brandon Adkins at defensive back.
“I’m pretty pleased with the guys that made it,” Correll said. “It’s exciting for them. After the couple years that I’ve got to be around them, I’ve seen them come a long way and prove themselves. They deserve (to be on the list).”
Although the Rams season ended more suddenly than they would have hoped, Correll is proud of his players who made the list.
“Our season was cut a little short,” Correll said. “But these guys were part of something special the last two years with me and I have a pretty close connection to them.”
Portales lost at Raton 28-19 in the Class 3A state football quarterfinals in November.
