A 3-point play from Racheal Chavez put the Vixens up 38-33 with 1:50 to play. Fort Sumner last won the district title in 2007, also against Elida.

Texico, meantime, travels to Hagerman. … The teams have split four meetings this season, including a 58-57 Wolverines win in double overtime on Monday at Tucumcari to decide the tourney’s top seed. Posada won that game with a last-second 3-pointer. … Posada’s 3-pointer Saturday came from three-quarters court, pulling the Wolverines to 28-25 at the break. … Texico never led in the game. Santa Rosa’s biggest lead was 43-32 at the end of three quarters. … Bailey scored all 18 of Texico’s points in the fourth quarter and OT. He had a last-second 3-pointer to win it at the end of regulation, but it went in and out. “I was proud of the kids,” Texico coach Richard Luscombe said. “I kind of challenged them to step up. Seth really stepped up and tried to carry us tonight.”
