Class 1A, 2A matchups set

The New Mexico Activities Association has announced sites and teams for the first round of the Class 1A and 2A basketball tournaments. Girls games are Friday, and boys games are Saturday. All times will be determined later this week. The eight teams that remain in each tournament will be seeded Sunday, and posted at nmact.org by 3 p.m.

Local teams that qualified are:

•  The Texico boys. The District 6-2A runnerup, and defending Class 2A champions, play at District 7-2A champion Hagerman.
  
•  The Texico girls. The District 6-2A runnerup, and defending Class 2A champions, play at District 7-2A champ Jal.
•  The Logan boys. The District 4-1A champions host District 3-1A runnerup Fort Sumner.
•  The Fort Sumner girls. The District 3-1A champs host District 4-1A runnerup Grady.
•  The Dora boys. The District 3-1A champs host District 4-1A runnerup Clovis Christian.
•  The Clovis Christian girls. The District 4-1A champs host District 3-1A runnerup Elida, with Melrose High School as the host site.
