Five chosen for all-star squad

Five area schools have representation for the South squad in this weekend’s North-South All-Star 1A-2A baseball game.

The senior-only event starts 5 p.m. today at Socorro High School and continues 10 a.m. Sunday.

Lane Draper of Melrose and Brett Anderson of Texico were selected, with Texico’s Warren Faircloth named as an alternate.

Dora is sending senior Josh Moore, while Elida sends Levi Massey. Massey  in place of teammate Cade Cathey, who chose not to go. Chay Chenault will represent Floyd.

Mesilla Valley has five players, while Lordsburg and state champion Loving are placing four players for this weekend’s action.
