The Gateway Christian Warriors defeated the Floyd Broncos Friday night 50-8.

The Warriors quickly jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and extended their lead to 28-8 at half-time.

The brother tandem of junior quarterback Chet Chenault and senior receiver Chay Chenault connected on Floyd’s only score of the contest — a 25-yard scoring strike in the second quarter.

The contest keeps Gatway Christian undefeated at 2-0, while the Broncos drop to 1-1 on the season.

“We didn’t play very well,” Floyd head coach Rafael Roybal said. “I try not to be negative because the school board gripes at me every time I’m negative. We didn’t play horrible, but we didn’t play very well either.”

Logan blanks Foothill, 58-0, on Friday night marking the second victory of the season for the Longhorns 8-man team.

Scoring one of those touchdowns is Taylor Smith, No. 22, with help from teammates Cimmaron Osborn, No. 11 and Charlie Hazen, 31.

On its season opener, the Longhorns defeated Springer, 34-8.
